Mommy's Lil' 7 Week Blueberry:-)

Today you are 7 weeks (and 1 day) and Mommy's so proud of you! You have doubled in size since last week and have little paddles for hands and feet...so cute! You also have a little tail...which will turn into your tail bone and totally disappear...otherwise, that'd be really weird. In addition your organs are forming and beginning to work and your eyelids are also forming.

Mommy's uterus has also doubled in size since conception, though it feels waaaayyyyy bigger, lol. Mommy doesn't crave anything right now except for lemons and that's to take the chalky taste out of her mouth. Lemon water is the best! Daddy is going to take Mommy out on the town tonight, so I want you to be on your best behavior in there and let Mommy eat something.
I'm pasting some pictures below of how you may look and those cute little webbed feet and hands.
Little Paddle Hand and
Little Paddle Foot

7 weeks and you cut the fool?!?

Lil Boogie...um, um, um. I must say. You started off being the world's calmest embryo. You gave Mommy lots of bloat, but that's it. Everyday, everyone from my boss to your Grandma's ask Mommy has she gotten sick and she's like NOPE! I'm beating morning sickness. Me and Lil' Boogie are against it!

And what do you do... hmmph! Well I'll tell you.

It all started Wednesday, the day before your seven week milestone. Mommy has the day off. And boy did she need it! She drops Daddy off at the office, and goes to here favorite retreat...the nail salon. This is where Ken, Mommy nail tech treats her like a million bucks. He gave her an hour long pedicure followed by a wonderful manicure and Mommy felt great.

Next stop for Mommy was the mall. This would be your first trip to the mall and it is another one of my favorite places. We go into Nordstroms, Mommy's favorite store. Mommy sees some boots she plans to talk to Daddy about because she thinks they are fabulous. Mommy finds the most perfect new foundation, and is pumped. Everything going well right...?

Well, we walk out of Nordstorms and go looking for Mommy some stuff she can fit since her pregnancy bloat is out of control and has the belly of a second trimester lady. She finds something cute for Daddy and then it hits...Mommy all of sudden can smell every perfume, deodorant, spray, or oil each person in the mall put on. It was like a cloud of cologne. UGH!! Mommy tried to ignore it, but then it mixed with the smell of a prezel/dog...YUCK! And don't you know it...Mommy was running to the nearest portapotty.

Mommy hadn't had anything to eat because she feels full all the time (due to the bloat) so nothing came up, but the wave of queeze was here to stay. Because I felt you and I had discussed we were rejecting Morning Sickness, she decided to throw some water on her face and go back out there and shop! But not 5 minutes later your new BFF Mr. Queeze comes back and Mommy knows at this point they must be pumping Cool Water, or Old Spice or some equally as obtrustive colonges through the vents in the mall. I looked around to see if anyone else thought this was weird, but everyone else seemed okay with it.

Mommy tried relentlessly to get to the store I'd driven 20 miles to get to, but when I get to the store, guess what its next to...Yep...the food court! So now Mommy is dying and knows people are looking at her weird because her face is bright green by now. She not only smells Old Spice, but Arby's, Sbarro's and Chickfila all mixed together. UUUUGGGGHHHHH!

Mommy rushed out of the mall, with almost nothign she'd come for and she couldn't believe you acted this way. You def are your Daddy's baby! And did you stop there...nope! Mommy got home from dinner with Dad and was curled up in the fetal position all night...dry heaving! The worst.

Mommy woke up with a very sore belly and an attitude, and the need to pray to the porcelin God all yesterday morning. Yesterday was a big day at Mommy's office and she was so weak from throwing up water and air that she couldn't make it into the office until 3pm! Boogie? Why?

Yesterday was your 7 week milestone and we were supposed to celebrate. Mommy had a business dinner to go to and could not eat anything but lemons the whole night to get the taste of dry heave out of her mouth.

I just hope that Wednesday and yesterday is not setting any type of precident and this was just a fluke. Daddy thinks you just hate the mall like him and wanted me to realize this and if that's the case fine, online shopping from here on out! But don't do Mommy like that! I love you too much. Mommy had already been bragging on how you were going to not give her any trouble now or during labor. So lets make good on those promises Lil' Boog!

Even though Mommy's still a little sick and week today, she is going to just try to forget all of that every happened okay. She has her little bottle of Emetrol which is helping get rid of your little friend Mr. Queeze, but I'm going to need your help too Lil' Boogie. If you don't make Mommy sick anymore, I promise to put some rice cereal in your bottle at like week 3 okay? Deal?

Corporate Mommy

Lil' Boogie, your Mommy has been fortunate (I use that word loosely) to have a really good job. I have good benefits and am able to learn lots that help the Government go round.

With all that said and done, Mommy is sleepy! And she thinks she is suffering from baby brain. Today, she was faced with the revision of 3 contracts and doing a negotiation and typically, that'd be exciting because Mommy loves a challange, but today, she just wanted to cry.

She told her boss her baby brain wouldn't let her do it. After about 40 minutes on the phone, they worked it out and she completed it, but man, Corporate Mommy 2 Be is tough.

In addition to being your Mommy, I have to be the pseudo Mommy for many grown ups and right now Mommy is just tooo exhausted. I think I'm going to take my mandated "BABY BREAKS" (I get an hour every 4 to go take a nap) and just go relax and talk to you so you don't feel that Corporate Mommy doesn't have time for you. You are most important, now and forever!

SleepyTime Barbie

Hi Baby,

Mommy has been so tired this weekend. Daddy has been getting on her for writing to you in a couple of days (you know, he could write to you too:-) The weekend has been good. Auntie Amber came over and hung with Mommy and we watched a hilarious movie called Waitress about a lady who was also expecting a baby, but was not as...happy as Mommy is, lol. Of course there was a happy ending and she was very happy once she delivered.

Also, Mommy's friend Joi delivered her baby boy Cameron on Saturday! Mommy has been letting her rest, but can't wait to here all about the delivery. She said it was "amazing"...amazing:-)

Tomorrow ends Mommy's weekend and she goes back to the grind of the work week. This is the last week Mommy and her ASI family at Commerce will work together. Mommy is actually really sad about that because they have been with her since she started. Mommy will stay at Commerce for almost 2 more months all alone. Well, now, I'll have you so that will be good:-)

You are 6 Weeks today!!!

Good Morning my Lil' bundle of joy! Today Mommy is 6 weeks pregnant. You sir have grown up a lot since last week. Your heart is currently beating twice as fast as Mommy and Daddy's. Your head is forming, along with your eyes, ears and nose. You have little buds for arms and legs. And totally you are about the size of a lentil bean (pictured next to the quarter). Mommy loves her little lentil bean!
This week, Mommy's emotions are getting the best of her. This is because of everything that is going on in her body, and/or she is already tired of working and ready to go on maternity leave (I'm sure Daddy will leave a comment about that, lol). Either way, she is just trying to keep it together because she has a long, relaxing weekend ahead of her and she plans to sleep, shop, sleep, eat...and crotchet.

You Go Boy/Girl!

Lil' Boogie, you never seem to shock and amaze Mommy. The Doctor's results are in and Mommy's hormone levels are at 16,627!!! You are doing your thing in there! That is up almost 16,000 from a week ago. I'm so happy! You know your Mommy is a worry-wart, but Daddy has been keeping it in check.
Mommy and Daddy have decided to stay with this Doctor until after your sonogram and then make a decision. So far she's good, she's just kinda far, but gets really good reviews (and Mommy LOVES reviews).

We scheduled your sonogram appointment for March 10! I'm soooo excited! Daddy is coming into the city and we will see you and hear your heart beat! Its going to be awesome! We are moving right along Lil' Boog!

Dr. Appointment #2

Well Lil' Boog, Mommy had another Doctor's appointment today. They only took blood, but Mommy waited almost an half hour for the Doctor to arrive and another half hour to be seen. Not cool! Mommy was patient and read pregnancy mags while she waited. She wants to stay calm so she doesn't sweat the small stuff.

The nurse finally took the blood and said that your first sonogram will be around March 7, 2008. It will be finalized once my blood works comes back tomorrow. I hope my levels are through the roof and your are growing big and strong in Mommy's womb:-)

Mommy got a lead on some good Doctor's that are closer to our house, so she may change in the upcoming weeks. I'll keep you posted. I can't wait to get the sonogram and look and you and hear you little heart beating for the first time!!! I'm getting emotional just thinking about it:-)

President's Day

Today Mommy has the day off for President's Day. Basically, its a silly Government Holiday, but Mommy's happy she doesn't have to go into the office! Mommy has...2.5 favorite Presidents to date. She REALLY loves President Kennedy (and this will be your namesake if you are a girl), She likes Lincoln a little (he's the .5) he was good, but had issues. And she really loved Clinton, but recently he's disappointed Mommy with his antics since his wife is currently running against Mommy's Presidential pick Barack Obama.
Mommy had planned on volunteering more and working with the Obama campaign, but now that you are here, she will have to spread the word a dfferent way, lol.

Anyhoo..Daddy and I wanted to this post a picture. We talk a lot about how we chill and relax on the couch and in a few months, you'll be there with us...every day...forever! Wow...that's pretty serious huh! We were capturing this moment the other night thinking about you...
Today Mommy will probaby go visit another one of her girlfriends Joi who is actually due today with her first baby (forgot to add her to the Mommy to Be blog) and maybe see your Aunt Nikki too. Mommy will also do something to her hair becuase this will probably be the last perm she'll be able to have for a while (scary). Maybe I'll think about braids in a few months...
I love you!

Row, Row, Row your Bloat...

Today was a much better day than yesterday. Mommy was not feeling good allllll night. She was up late with lots of bloat. Her stomach was doubled in size! Man, it was unnnnncomfortable! I don't know what, if anything I could take for it so I just toughed it out.

I tried to eat some whole wheat noodles around 2AM (since I wasn't busy) to help it. I finally got to sleep around 3 or so. Fun night:-)

Mommies 2 B

Lil' Boogie, you will be born in a Leap Year. This means that we have one extra day in the shortest Month of the Year. This happens every 4 years and folks say that lots of people get preggers around this time.

Well, these folks may know what they are talking about. In addition to Mommy being pregnant with you, her BFF, your Aunt Donna (not to be confused by your Great-Aunt Donna in Jersey, lol) is also 12 weeks pregnant and her BFF DC edition, Aunt Nikki is 7 weeks pregnant. But it doesn't stop there... Donna's sister Janice just found out she is 4 weeks pregnant and there are also a host of celebs pregnant right now...Halle Berry, J-Lo, Jessica Alba, and who knows who else. 2008 is a VERY popular year for babies!

Mommy is soooo happy to be pregnant at the same time as her 2 of her best friends. It helps so much to have someone else going through the Joys (for now) of Childbirth with her.

Craving of the week...

So today Daddy and I spent the day in the city. Mommy LOVES going into the city and walking around, it had been a long time. Daddy and I typically stay in on Saturdays (he taught Mommy the "art" of satting down somewhere) so it was refreshing to spead our love on the outside for a change, lol. We went shopping for rings for Mommy (you'll see it one day:-) and to get some delicious food.

Mommy thinks you have an Asian theme going on in there because you LOVE rice! Mommy wants it everyday with every meal. I don't think thats a bad thing though. Its very filling. Daddy and I ate this afternoon and I'm still full/bloated, lol. Actually, I feel "bloated" after every meal.

Quick lesson Lil' Boog, Ladies typically try and preserve their sexy and hold their stomachs in a little to minimize the pooch, but Mommy's is already poking out! I can only imagine what it'll look like in say... a month, lol. I'll have Daddy take a pix to put on here tomorrow.

Anyhoo...I'm attaching your favorite meal of the week. I'm sure it will vary as the weeks and months pass, but I can't get enough of this right now:-)

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Lil' Boog, today is Valentine's Day. This is a day when people celebrate the love they have for one another. In the past, Mommy didn't really celebrate this day because she hadn't really experienced real love. But today, Mommy has Daddy and you, I now know what real love feels like:)

Everyone has been bringing Mommy to tears today with beautiful sentiments and Happy Valentine's Day wishes. Daddy made Mommy a custom card and it was sooooo beautiful. I'll show it to you when you are able to read (probably about 3 years because you are going to be a genuis). Your Mema Franie sent an awesome card to all of us (above). Isn't it GREAT! You are so LOVED!

The Fam!

So Mommy has Wednesday off and Daddy (sssshhhh, don't tell) decide to play hookie for like the first time in months! I'm so happy. He got to sleep in with Mommy and keep her company.

You have so much family that can't wait to see you (see picture to your right). Your Mema Franie talked to you yesterday on the blog. She wants you to call her Mema which Mommy is SOOOOOOOOOO excited on! She and Daddy talked about one of the grandparents being named something different because Mommy's grandmother's name was MaDear and it was so memorable and different. I wanted you to have the same thing and Mema Franie (which is your Daddy's Mommy) stepped up to the plate. Its going to be sooooooooo cute you calling her Mema! I'm smiling just thinking about it.

Then you have Daddy's Aunt/Sister (long story, we'll explain that later, lol) but she and Daddy came up with you calling her Auntie Auntie! I love that too. Daddy family is so cute and original. Mommy is so happy that you are going to be apart of their clan!

And the results are in!

So the Doctor's office called with Mommy's results and yes...you are in there!!!! Yahhhh!!! I'm so happy. My hormone levels were at 629 and anything over 25 is a positive pregnancy! The Doctor wants mommy to come back next Tuesday to test the levels again and make sure the levels are increasing...which I know they are because you are growing big and strong in there!

Also, Mommy did a little shopping and bought you your first Pajama outfit. I'm not sure if you are a girl or boy yet, so I got one in each color. Mommy can't wait to shop for you and dress you up! You are going to be such a hit!

Ok, so that's all for me. Oh, your Daddy is going through it, he is experiencing all my symptoms too. He's been sleepy, and hungry, and has had a headache since we found out about you. I'm sure it may also be just the excitement. Mommy's going to take care of him when she gets home from work.

I'm counting down the days until I get to see your for the first time...right now I'm looking at about...34 more weeks, or 238 days. WOW! That seems like a long time, but I want you to stay in this 5 star hotel Mommy has (also called my womb) until you are ready!

Love you Lil' Boogie Woogie

Dr. Appointment #1

Today was our first Dr. Appointment. We are trying new Doctors to see who is going to do right by you and Mommy. The lady we went to today was really nice.

She calculated that you are just shy of 5 weeks...this means you are about the size of a grain of rice...TINY! She could not do a full exam and feel you because you are too small, but she will do that in a couple of weeks.

She took Mommy's blood to check her hormone levels and to confirm that you are really in there (which I know you are:-) Tomorrow the Doctor will call back to let us know when the next appointment is. I'm sure that is one Daddy will want to be at because then they will do a Sonogram. The Doctor plans to do an early sonogram because Mommy's side of the family gets sick easily and we want to keep a good eye on you. This will be your first picture to world and I can't wait!!!

Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy the Prenatals I got. They are as big my cell phone, but packed with everything you need to be beautiful, smart, and healthy.

I LOVE You Lil' Boog....

Your First Day at Work

Well...its been an interesting day Lil' Boog. Mommy has had a headache all day, but Daddy took great care of her. He's really patient and sweet and I'm sure in the upcoming months, we are going to give him the flux, lol.

He did suggest, along with Grandma, that I take something. So we called urgent care and they told me I can take Tylenol. It worked...eventually, and I think a lil laughter from your Auntie Candy in Cali helped!

I made Daddy dinner, and then we found out that...yep, you don't like bacon. I use it to fry corn, so of course I had a piece, but you quickly showed me you are against pork, lol. Why bacon Lil' Boog, why???

I recovered quickly, and went on to have a good night. Tomorrow is your first day in the office. You get to ride the metro and everything! I hope no one has on any stinky perfume because I don't think you like that either.

I'm going to get some rest now...I love you...

Who Knew!

Well, well well...

Welcome Lil Boog! Your Mommy and Daddy have created you (according to the 2 plus signs I got on the tests). We are only about...4 or 5 weeks into your creation (you are still really tiny in Mommy's belly), but I already feel you.

So, we found out Friday, February 8, 2008 around 7PM, that we concieved you. Mommy was scared a little at first, but your Daddy had no worries! I tell you, we could have not picked a better Daddy for you. I can't wait until you meet him!

Anyhoo, Mommy was scared because people would call her...um...lets see in baby talk...over excited. Like, the butterflies you are giving me now...Mommy feels those all the time over...most things. So to know I'm building you right now...in my belly...is like WOW!
We've told most of your Aunts and Uncles already and your Grandparents, who CAN'T WAIT to see you. Especially Daddy parents because you are the first grandbaby for them (Lucky You).
So...I won't talk you to death this morning. I couldn't sleep because I think and dream about you all night already. I love you so much and know you are going to be just perfect!

Rae Pembroke on Change

I think the crazy, sweating, ranting black coach whose name escapes me said it best when he stated "They are exactly what we thought they were". This statement has become one of my Pembrokisms, mostly because it fits every situation.

Most of the time, what you think people are...they are. They show you, but for some reason we try to change 10-20-hell 30 years of mess that has been brewing before we got on the scene. I think sometimes, as women, our maternal insticts tell us contradicting things.

On one hand, we tend to cultivate or nuture people with problems in hopes that one day they will get better. On the other hand we have instincts like a mutha that tell us exactly what to do (run most of the time), but we are too busy ego stroking that that little voice in our heads gets quieter and quieter.

I think, maybe for a month...we should just try going with your instincts. If something inside you pulls you one way, go with it. Don't over think it...see where it leads you. It may lead you to something good...or out of something bad. Try it...

Rae Pembroke Loves...the Lock, Pop and Drop (and I don't mean the dance)

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies!
Are you ready for another installment of Sex Positions for the Brave 101. This position was submitted by a very good friend who is still stuttering from the thought of this move.

She innocently, atop her Bronco of a Boo saw that he had something else, a little different in mind. I would like to call it the Lock, Pop, and Drop...not to be confused with the dance Pop, Lock and Drop it.
Below are the steps...pass them on to your Boo, if you feel like he can handled it (make sure he stretches first)
1. Straddle your man face to face in the traditional cowgirl position
2. Hold on, its about to be a bumpy ride...At this point it may be best to use his chest, arms, or hope for leverage. This is the LOCK portion of the exercise.
3. Your man should start a serious of pumps...as if reving up his pelvis.
4. YOU! STAY! STILL! Remember LOCK!
5. As your man builds inertia, he begins to move towards the foot of the bed, but continuing to pump.
6. As he pumps, you being to automatically POP up in the air!
7. Now, his penis and pelvis have become the moon bounce your vagina has been waiting in line all year to get on.
8. He continues the pump, scoot, move, Lock, Pop, move until he reaches the end of the bed.
9. At this point you are confused, and entertained and wondering what's next...funnel cake?
10. Lastly, he DROPS his legs off the bed and lets you off the ride safely...exit stage left.

I again, have included a pictorial for further explanation. Please click on the picture to see it in its entirety:-) ENJOY!
